Plastic surgery is as much an art as a science. Now, a new single-volume textbook teaches surgeons how to get exceptional results by following video demonstrations by the world’s top surgeons.
The plastic surgery industry continues to thrive, despite the downturn in the U.S. economy, with more than 10 million people choosing to have a cosmetic procedure in 2008. But the outcomes depend almost entirely on the skill of the surgeon. Now, a group of doctors has put together a comprehensive textbook featuring a “who’s who” of international authorities in plastic surgery explaining their signature techniques.
The single volume textbook, called Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, includes a DVD featuring top surgeons from around the globe demonstrating their techniques on everything from breast reduction to facelifts. The videos are also available for doctors to view online. The goal, says Dr. Jennifer Walden, one of the editors, is to help other surgeons achieve exceptional results.

The textbook also features nearly 1600 color photos and illustrations demonstrating what doctors should look for during a surgical procedure, and the types of results that can be achieved.
The editors believe will be an important reference for surgeons worldwide, and plan to update the materials as new technical information becomes available.
