A man in the United Kingdom who says he has been living a s a woman for ten years wants breast augmentation surgery, but has been refused. Now, he is claiming sex discrimination and has made a case against his health care organization.
The transsexual, known only as “C,” hasn’t yet had a sex change operation but has reportedly had hormone treatments to become more feminine. He claims breast augmentation would help complete his female identity. But, C has been denied this operation since 2006.
C is claiming discrimination. But the attorney for the West Berkshire Primary Care Trust organization said C was denied because his request for breast augmentation coverage didn’t meet their “exceptional” criteria for funding.
An appeal hearing was scheduled for earlier this week. We’ll keep you posted on the outcome.
