The aftermath of a recent fire in a Russian nightclub include more than 100 fatalities and nearly 120 disfigured victims – prompting Russia’s minister of health to promise plastic surgery to many of the wounded.
An indoor fireworks display went awry inside the club Lame Horse in Perm, Russia on December 5, causing an explosion, then a fire that left many with burns on more than 50 percent of their bodies. Tatyana Golikova of the Russian Health Ministry has gone on record as saying these victims will get the cosmetic surgery they need for free.
Since the fire, the death toll has risen from the intial 100 to 113. Following the incident, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev declared December 7 an official day of mourning.
