Body contouring after weight loss surgery is increasingly popular, as more Americans undergo bariatric surgery to resolve morbid obesity — and are left to contend with loose, sagging skin when they shed the extra pounds. Dr. T. Michael Dixon, a board certified plastic surgeon, explains the most popular plastic surgery procedures after weight loss, and special considerations for post-operative bariatric surgery patients who want a body lift.

In the past ten years, the number of Americans undergoing weight loss surgery has increased 20 times over. Not surprisingly, thousands of bariatric surgery patients are opting for plastic surgery to address issues like sagging skin and prominent stretch marks after they lose 100 pounds or more. In this educational segment, Dr. T. Michael Dixon, a board certified plastic surgeon in private practice, explains special considerations concerning body contouring after weight loss surgery and reviews the most popular procedures.

Mark responded:
My wife had a plastic surgery on both legs to remove a small amount of fat on the upper inside portion of her legs. There were two surgeons, one on each leg. One of the legs is now deformed. Too much was removed from under the buttocks area and the upper area of the leg is now skinnier than the lower part of the leg.
Can this be repaired?
Thank you!
