Botox without needles may soon be available. Studies are proving topical Botox treatment can be effective. Fewer wrinkles with no needles? Sounds like a win/win.
Imagine getting all the benefits of Botox without any injections.
A recently completed phase II clinical trial revealed that a topical form of botulinum toxin can effectively treat crow’s feet, without the dreaded needle.
The treatment works by allowing large toxin molecules to enter the face and target desired areas by soaking through the skin. Using a proprietary technology, the skin actually transports the toxin rather than acting as a barrier.
Dr. Michael Kane, a principal investigator in the trial, told Cosmetic Surgery Times that a large number of participants showed positive results. He said, “The difference was night and day, both at rest and smiling.”
Using a gel instead of an injection may be a more viable alternative for people interested in reducing wrinkles. Researchers have yet to prove that a topical form of botulinum is completely effective, but the latest trial results indicate they are one step closer.
