Cosmetic Surgery Bad for the Foot

Cosmetic surgery comes in many forms, but more women are choosing to have procedures on their feet. Watch this week’s Plastic Surgery News to find out more.

heelsMore and more women are getting cosmetic surgery on their feet, of all places. They are having procedures to remove bunions or shorten toes that are too long. However, some women are also having their smallest toe removed … so they can fit into fashionable shoes.

But, both the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the American Podiatric Medical Association advise against this, since women who are able to squeeze into these shoes are also putting themselves at risk for, you guessed it – bunions and claw toes.

According to the orthopedic society, many doctors are now treating foot problems that are related to cosmetic surgery in that area. So, while plastic surgery may be available these days from head to toe, it’s probably wise to leave your toes alone. Video plays below.
