Vanessa Hudgens Ignores Peer Pressure to Have Plastic Surgery

Vanessa Hudgens seems to have it all: a poster-perfect boyfriend, a blockbuster movie career, and undeniable body confidence (as is evident in her newly leaked scandalous pics). One might wonder, has Vanessa jumped on the young Hollywood plastic surgery bandwagon?

The answer is a refreshing ‘no’!

Unlike some of her famous friends, Hudgens has yet to go under the knife for any sort of cosmetic procedure. Even her best bud, Ashley Tisdale (who co-starred with Hudgens in the wholesome High School Musical films) traded in the proboscis God gave her for a nose fit for a newly crowned teen queen. (She explained that the “corrective rhinoplasty” was performed only to alleviate her…ahem…deviated septum.)

Sadly, many girls who are thrust into the limelight fall victim to the Hollywood body image gods. Singer/actress Hilary Duff opted for porcelain veneers a few years back, only to catch flak from the fashionistas because the veneers made her teeth look unnaturally long and too large for her face. (She had them fixed later on.) Britney Spears admitted to Rolling Stone magazine that her mom let her get breast implants while she was still a teenager. And, who can forget pop star and aspiring actress Ashlee Simpson’s 2006 rhinoplasty, which made her hypocrisy about how girls should be comfortable with their appearance as plain as the nose on her face?

Too many young celebrities have undergone invasive plastic surgery to alter their appearance in a way they believe will make them more beautiful or accepted. It is inspirational to witness a girl who is not letting the pressure to be Hollywood Barbie get to her.

“I guess I’m not one for peer pressure”, Vanessa said in a recent interview. (Okay, she was talking about her first kiss, but the 20-year-old Miss Hudgens clearly sticks to her guns on a variety of issues.)

It will definitely be interesting to see if this “it girl” ever chooses to undergo any interesting alterations, but for now, her body confidence and high self-esteem are just as newsworthy!
