Building a Natural Breast

Building a Natural Breast

Breast augmentation is BETTER THAN EVER! New tools, methods, and procedures are building a better breast augmentation. There used to be only one implant to choose and that’s it. Now, there are a variety to choose from determined by your specific measurements. While these options have defined an increase in better, more personalized results, the addition of fat grafting to a breast augmentation is making it even better.

Dr. James Namnoum of Atlanta is a practitioner of what he terms “composite breast augmentation“.  By combining implant selection with fat grafting after liposuction, results are becoming more refined.

2What is Composite Breast Augmentation?

Composite meaning made up of various parts; composite breast augmentation combines breakthrough technologies to give patients the closest thing to what everyone wants: a natural look.

“Composite breast augmentation can be thought of as taking breast augmentation and taking it up a whole other notch,” explains Dr. Namnoum. “For most patients – particularly for the woman who’s had children – they don’t want to look augmented. My patients almost always use the phrase, ‘I want to look natural.'”

A More Complete Breast Aug

In the past, limited implant options meant that customization of a procedure could only be done up to a point. Because of this, many results from a standard breast augmentation might have been noticeable to an onlooker as an augmented breast, rather than a natural breast.

The trend today of growing technology just so happens to align with the aesthetic trend of wanting a natural-looking breast. By utilizing composite breast augmentation, the deficiencies that may have been noticeable with an older breast augmentation are being smoothed out, literally.

“What [patients] really want is to leave doubt in the eye of an onlooker,” says Namnoum. “That patient is well served by thinking about an implant for core volume, lipo to remove fat from an area that’s not particularly desirable, then fat transfer to craft a look of softness around the breast.”

In essence, Namnoum’s technique applies an implant to a patients breast in order to add the volume. This core volume is the bulk of the procedure, giving a patient the requisite amount of volume. This stage is also where many procedures in the past ended. The addition of lipo and fat transfer allows surgeons to remove unwanted fat from one area and inject that fat around the breast. This fat transfer allows smoother edges around implants and maybe even some minor added volume where deficiencies may lay, ultimately combining to form a very natural look.

“If you can’t see the sharp edges of an implant, or they don’t look especially convex, it can be very hard to tell if someone has had an augmentation,” says Namnoum. “The fat provides subtlety,  beauty, and the head-turning that makes people think, ‘Wow, they look great. So natural.’ That’s what we want!”
