Susan Sarandon believes she has an advantage over actresses who rely on Botox to look younger. And despite saying she is afraid of Botox users, she thinks women should do what they want to for themselves.
Susan Sarandon says she doesn’t have any problem with people choosing fillers or surgery to stay looking young, despite her comments last year about being afraid of Botox users. But she did tell People that actresses her age who used Botox looked like they were wearing masks.
Sarandon also said that she didn’t want to look young—it’s her advantage in Hollywood. “You can see I haven’t had Botox or these lines wouldn’t be here, but when you do that it becomes very mask like and that frightens me. I have an advantage if I’m the only one that actually looks 60, then I’ll get all those parts because there won’t be any actresses that look 60 around.”
She says she stays fit playing competitive table tennis, but she doesn’t have a problem with other people doing what they feel they have to do as they age.
“I’m an advocate of women doing whatever they want to do for themselves,” Sarandon told OK! magazine. “Women should have control over their bodies to do whatever they want to do. Some people have better taste than others, and some people get crazy about it.”
Sarandon herself has aged well, according to plastic surgeons for various blogs who differ in opinion on whether the actress has had work done. Educated guesses range from nothing to some fillers to a face lift.
“Susan looks pretty damn great,” 15-year-old co-star Saoirse Ronan told the magazine during a press junket. Sarandon stars with Ronan in The Lovely Bones, which hits theaters in limited release December 11 and opens nationwide January 15.
