Twilight star Kristen Stewart says she hates being on tabloid covers. The film’s director spills on what is behind Pattinson and Stewart’s romantic connection.
On a press tour for New Moon, Kristen Stewart told Blackbook, “I don’t want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie. Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everybody’s so obsessive.”
The Twilight star has complained that her role in the movie has made going out impossible, and that she hates that everything she does ends up on the cover of a tabloid.
As the cast tours internationally for the film, it’s obvious no place on Earth is immune from New Moon mania. A Halloween weekend stop in Brazil had police setting up barricades outside the hotel where Stewart and co-star Taylor Lautner were staying to control mobs of fans. Robert Pattinson was swarmed by fans just minutes off the plane.
Adding to the fan frenzy, dating rumors have swirled about the headliners, but they say it’s nothing but rumors. “It doesn’t make any difference what you say. I’ve literally been across the country [from Kristen] and it’s like, ‘Oh, they were on secret dates!’ It’s like, ‘Where? I can’t get out of my hotel room!’” Pattinson told Vanity Fair.
The film’s director says any attraction the pair has is due to what was needed to make the film believable. “What Rob and Kristen had is a multitude of feelings for each other. Complex feelings for each other. It was what we needed. Complete, intense fascination,” Catherine Hardwicke, director of the first Twilight movie, told the magazine.
Still, if Stewart maintains her current attitude about being a celebrity — richly mixed feelings, at best — then she likely won’t be prone to behave like a celebrity as years add up. She may join the crowd populated by Cate Blanchett and few others: shunning plastic surgery, choosing the stage as often as possible, maybe almost longing to be ignored.

@ Vanessa ..HAHA..Actually I think Kristen is a great actress, although she is very young she is a lot more stable and intelligent than Angelina was 19 her age. She practically hooked up with Billy Bob on the Red Carpet.(weirdo)…… I’m glad Kristen doesn’t want to be like Angelina Jolie ……Angelina was nothing but a big lipped home wrecking slut in her late teens and 20’s….Thankfully she grew up a bit!!

ummm…who said Angelina was a great actress? She’s a pretty face without the depth of a Meryl Streep or a Cate Blanchett. To put Kristen in the same sentence as Cate is laughable!
