Victoria Beckham American Idol’s newest sweetheart? It’s true—but the romance will be short-lived.
Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell have plans to spend the night together. But, their less-than-clandestine rendezvous will be televised for millions of music fans worldwide.
Beckham is slated to join American Idol for its upcoming season premier, replacing eight-season veteran Paula Abdul. So, how did the former Posh Spice, an A list celebrity but D list singer, score the gig?
According to a recent article in People magazine, when Paula Abdul resigned, Simon Cowell rang up his fellow Brit, Victoria, to jump in.
“It needs a big star. Simon Cowell and Victoria have always got on,” an insider told UK’s The Sun. “It would be an incredible coup to get Posh. She was in one of the biggest girl groups in history so she knows what she is talking about.”
But Beckham’s spokesperson said that it’s simply a single episode event. Victoria will be concentrating on her fashion line.
Victoria has shown great dedication to her role of fashion icon… even going under the knife to achieve different signature looks. Several years ago, she underwent a breast augmentation operation, taking her bantam bustline to a double-D.
In his Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery Blog, Dr. Tony Youn described her “oh-so-obvious” implants as overfilled, and likely placed on top of the muscle, so that they were only covered by skin. Over the past several years, Beckham also frequently fell under criticism for the unnatural looking orbs crushed against her rib cage by the corset-top dresses she favored.
But in early summer 2009, Posh paid a visit to her doc once again not to enlarge, but to reduce her breast size. “She felt that was part of her old WAG image – the big hair, big boobs and fake tan – and that she has moved on since those days,” an insider told The Sun.
Other sources indicate that Victoria believes that the smaller breasts are better for her high fashion wardrobe and look better in couture. (Her husband, soccer player David Beckham, looks good in whatever he wears, although he leans toward designer duds, too.)
Whatever her role, whether judging young divas on Idol or sending shockwaves through the fashion world, Victoria is sure to make a splash with fans.
