Cohesive Gel Breast Implant Trials – Video Feature

Medical research has led to the development of cohesive gel breast implants–also called form stable breast implants or “gummy bear” implants–which have been used overseas since the mid-1990s. The implants have been in clinical trials in the U.S. for several years, and thousands of patients nationwide have undergone breast augmentation surgery using the new form stable implants, which hold their shape better and offer less chance of rupture compared to saline or traditional silicone gel implants. Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Steve Teitelbaum, MD, FACS, explains the difference between the three varieties of breast implants and offers insights into the results of the ongoing clinical trials in this 4 minute video feature.
