Haiti May Get Kanye’s Help

Haiti benefit events are currently very celebrity-driven, but it’s uncertain if Kanye West will be involved in very many.

It happens that the invitation list of MTV’s January 22 “Hope For Haiti” benefit show, organized by George Clooney, does include rapper Kanye West – contrary to some reports.

But there’s currently no word of whether he’ll be there.

Earlier, it seemed the network had no place for West in the roster, given the controversy over his behavior at the 2009 Video Music Awards and during 2005 benefit events for Hurricane Katrina victims.

“After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate,” an MTV producing partner told PopEater.com. “Kanye has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and well, this night, it’s just not about him.”

The site later posted a correction indicating that West can appear if he wants, but he hasn’t indicated either way what he’ll do.

Well, he’ll respond somehow, and the internet will spread word of what he does. Kanye West has taken flak about his public outbursts, had concerned buzz about rumored death threats and has spurred countless info posts about his love life. Adding fuel to the fire, Kanye isn’t the silent and reserved type.

But thus far, the world of plastic surgery has had no reported pleasure of his direct involvement. This is despite the fact that his family factors into it strongly. The 2007 death of his mother Donda West, related to complications during a procedure, inspired a law in California that affects plastic surgery patients. The law, passed in 2009, requires some potential patients in that state to undergo a physical examination and get medical clearance prior to getting plastic surgery.

When the law finally went into full effect, West reportedly claimed approval without making much fanfare. Relative to other subjects, he was silent.

The very near future will show what else Kanye West keeps close to the vest, and what he makes noise about.
