Hulk Hogan Admits Pondering Suicide

Hulk Hogan finalized a divorce from wife Linda, and has a new autobiography with an admission that he considered suicide – until a co-worker saved his life.

tdy-091027-hulk-ali-615a.standardHulk Hogan has faced several fierce opponents in real wrestling matches – privately pitted against drugs and marital problems. Recently, the rugged wrestler co-authored a new book, My Life Outside the Ring, that details these problems and more – including an admission that he considered suicide during a low point.

The point came in late 2007. By then, his wife Linda had filed for divorce. Also, his son Nick had been incarcerated for reckless driving under the influence and causing a crash that seriously injured a passenger. In the book, Hogan admits to finally getting his hands on Xanax pills, rum chasers and a pistol.

“I could feel the life draining out of me,” he writes. “It had me curling my index finger on the trigger of a loaded handgun and putting it in my mouth.”

The book details the earlier life of Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea. It delves into past steroid and cocaine use, plus marital strife that led to his recent affair with 33-year-old Christiane Plante, friend of his daughter Brooke.

MakeMeHeal.com was among many sources to indicate how strained the Hogan marriage was, reporting allegations that Linda Hogan spent as much as $14,000 on one plastic surgery session. In fact, prior to the divorce, both she and daughter Brooke underwent breast augmentation – and Linda is reported to be a longtime Botox devotee.

Despite Linda’s regular plastic surgery to stay beautiful, the results weren’t enough to keep this couple happy to be together.  The new book makes this clear, though it may never be clear who exactly is to blame.

“I can’t tell you how many nights I went to bed and the last words I heard before my head hit the pillow were ‘F— you, Terry,’ ” Hogan wrote. “It got so bad, she wouldn’t touch me. We’d go to bed and roll over, and there was no physical contact whatsoever.”

Fortunately, Gladiators co-star Laila Ali noticed that Hogan was depressed, and called to check on him – which he tributes to saving his life.

“She called with no agenda, just to say hi and check on me,” Hogan said. “It snapped me out of it. At that moment I switched gears. I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Her voice saved my life, it really did.”
