Jasmine Fiore, a former swimsuit model whose mutilated body was found stuffed in a suitcase last week, was identified by the serial number on her breast implants. Authorities were unable to use fingerprints or dental records for identification, because her fingers and teeth had been removed by the killer.
On the morning of August 15, 2009, the nude body of swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore was found stuffed inside a suitcase in a trash bin in Buena Park, California, about 20 miles outside of Los Angeles. Although her death was clearly a homicide, authorities initially were unable to identify the victim, because her fingers and all of her teeth had been removed, making it impossible to use fingerprints or dental records in the investigation.
What the killer overlooked, however, were Ms. Fiore’s breast implants.
Detectives tracked the serial number on the breast implants to identify the body, Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney’s office said.
Investigators are now conducting a manhunt for Fiore’s ex-husband, Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a former contestant on the VH1 reality TV show Megan Wants to Marry a Millionaire, who has been on the run since he reported her missing on the evening of August 15. (VH1 has since cancelled the show.)
The two reportedly got married in a quickie ceremony at a Las Vegas casino in mid-March, after taping wrapped on the reality series, according to the Associated Press. But, the couple had been fighting in recent months, ostensibly because Jenkins was jealous of Fiore’s ex-boyfriends. Her mother claims that Fiore had had their marriage annulled in May. In June, Jenkins was charged with domestic abuse for allegedly hitting Fiore in the arm, according to Nevada court records.
Fast forward to August 13, when the couple checked into the L’Auberge Del Mar Hotel in San Diego. According to reports, they were also later spotted at a nightclub inside the Ivy Hotel in the city’s Gaslamp District. Jenkins checked out of the L’Auberge Del Mar alone the next morning, and reported Fiore missing the next day, hours after her body had been found.
Investigators believe he may have fled to his native Canada and are working with Canadian authorities to find the alleged killer.
