Kanye West and Jay Leno Discuss VMA Outburst

Kanye West and Jay Leno discussed the VMA Awards controversy during the Jay Leno Show premiere. West said his behavior stemmed from stress, including unresolved grief over his mother’s death.

KANYEKanye West needs a vacation – and he blames stress for his recent outburst during last weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards, when he snatched the mic from Country sweetheart Taylor Swift.

West appeared as a guest on the premiere of The Jay Leno Show the following night, and Leno was quick to call the rapper to task for his bad behavior. In a sober moment, the host asked West what his late mother would have thought of his behavior.

West admitted he needs time to figure out how to handle being a celebrity. The death of his mother, he said, hasn’t lost its grip on him. Donda West died in November 2007 from complications following plastic surgery.

“You know, obviously, I deal with hurt and, you know, so many celebrities, they never take the time off,” West told Leno. “And I’ve never taken the time off, just music and music and tour after tour, and I’m ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt.”

The Leno appearance was West’s third apology to Swift, coming after two blog posts.

“My entire life, I’ve only wanted to do and give something that I felt was right and I immediately knew in this situation that it was wrong,” West said. “It’s actually someone’s emotions that I stepped on. It was rude, period. I’d like to apologize to her in person.”

He almost has. After Swift appeared on The View on Sept. 15, West called Swift and offered his apology and she accepted it. Perhaps this is the first step for the world-famous West to come to terms with the pressures of stardom, and the grief over his mother’s passing.

Meanwhile, the California Senate last week passed the Donda West Law, which would prohibit a surgeon from performing electronic cosmetic facial surgery unless the patient had undergone a physical exam within 30 days before the procedure and been given a written clearance. Although Ms. West did not have facial surgery, the legislation is designed to protect patients from the types of complications that led to her death.

“Sometimes patients may think they are well enough for cosmetic surgery, but in reality are not,” said Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter (D-Rialto), who authored the bill. “This bill will potentially save lives.”

I believe it is time to hold all people accountable regardless of there race or color for racism. Webster’s Dictionary defines racist as – someone who believes in the inherent superiority of a particular race or is prejudice against others. We have two examples of possible prejudice. Republican Joe Wilson calling the President a liar and Kanya West publicly taking from Taylor Swift and trying to give to Beyonce. At fist it doesn’t seem that Mr. Wilson’s statement was prejudice against the President. However, who calls out liar in congress unless you think you are superior to the person addressing congress non less the President. With the same line of thought Kanya West would not have let his emotions get the best of him if he didn’t think that his race is superior in the music industry. I think it is time to hold all people accountable for racism. Mr. Wilson should not be re-elected and Mr West should not be allowed in the music industry.

He is truly one arrogant jack—the President’s word accurately describes Kanye. Am glad to know the radio stations are staying away from his music!
