Kanye West: Mom Honored With New Plastic Surgery Law

Kanye West’s mom was recently honored with legislation named for her. The Donda West Law was signed earlier this month by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

donda_west_lawIn July, The Plastic Surgery Channel News reported about the proposed Donda West Law – a law that requires plastic surgery patients in California to undergo a physical checkup before their operations.

The new legislation, which was signed into law earlier this month by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, is named after Donda West, late mother of hip-hop artist Kanye West. She died in 2007 from complications related to plastic surgery.

This new law is a way of providing plastic surgery patients in California with medical clearance before they go under the knife.

Governor Schwarzenegger originally vetoed the bill in February 2008. And, the new legislation underwent some changes before being passed.

The law now prohibits doctors to perform elective cosmetic surgery on patients who haven’t had a checkup within 30 days of the operation.

Rapper Kanye West reportedly is happy to see this law put into effect.
