Lasers, Light, Ultrasound, and Your Face

“A number of people want to rejuvenate and tighten their face but they don’t want surgery,” says Dr. Grant StevensJust like the weather, the knife is something people would prefer not to be under. Plastic surgeons are now well-equipped with many tools that forego surgery.

Sun damage, wrinkles, a loss of volume, elasticity: the signs of aging. Before technological advances in the use of light and radio frequencies, the facelift was a patient’s only hope for a more youthful, rejuvenated look.

But now, doctors are equipped with the latest tools: Thermage, Exilis, Venus, Ulthera, etc. All of these techniques are non-surgical as they employ concentrated radiofrequency or electromagnetism to stimulate the various levels of the skin, encouraging a cellular rejuvenation.

Any number of tools, with their unique approaches, can be combined to achieve a result tailored to the individual. “I take the advantages of Thermage, the advantages of Ulthera, and Exilis Elite. I give my patients access to all of them.”

Dr. Stevens, personally familiar with all of the options at his disposal, recognizes that one tool is rarely enough to accommodate the complex nature of facial aging that occurs disparately from person to person. “I don’t think there’s just one brand that works, in fact, I know there isn’t.

Visual Consultation

Vision commands our attention more than any of the senses, and, at Dr. Stevens’ practice, patients’ consultations include photography and computer imaging that allows for potentials to be seen.

We know there is often a discrepancy between a patient’s words and wishes, but the inclusion of visual components to a consultation can help get right to the heart of the matter.

The Body Contour

Surgical procedures are postponed or allayed with the success of high-tech, non-surgical techniques. And such rejuvenation is not limited to the face. Lasers and radiofrequencies can be put to use anywhere on the body.

Non-surgical contouring of the body is now occurring with unprecedented precision. As Dr. Stevens puts it: “I think what we find is that people want to look great and as long as they’re looking great, they stay away from knives and sharp objects.”
