Maria Shriver apologizes for breaking a California law that requires drivers to use hands-free units. Husband Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who implemented the law, had something to say about it.
Celebrity Web site TMZ.com captured two photographs and a video of Maria Shriver holding her cell phone to her ear. The wife of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger then apologized for breaking a California law that necessitates hand-free units while driving.
Shriver should have known better, since her husband created the law. But, TMZ.com celebrity watchers, always reliable for catching everyone in the act of everything, got snaps of Shriver driving while holding a phone to her ear. The photos were posted online October 13, and a video was added later.
News of the incident quickly made its way to Gov. Schwarzenegger. He joked about the incident during a speech Wednesday at a technology conference in San Francisco, saying he couldn’t believe his wife was caught on camera three times “holding that phone in her hand like in the Stone Age.” The Governor also said that “swift action would be taken.”
When Arnold Schwarzenegger gets peeved and promises swift action, the wise will hide in a tank or flee the country. But, wife Shriver will probably just get a talking-to. Still, Schwarzenegger takes the new cell phone law seriously, and reportedly warned his teenage daughter that “she’ll be taking the bus” if she violates it.
Well, it’s no secret where the Schwarzenegger household stands on the law. But, regarding plastic surgery, it’s interesting that though both Schwarzenegger and Shriver are rumored to have had it – their lips stay tight on the subject.
“You are confusing me with Cher,” Arnie has said, when asked. However, an article in Slate called “Plastic Arnold” focused on the couple’s possible plastic surgeries – and even included varying opinions from six plastic surgeons. Four of the doctors said his looks were natural, but Beverly Hills surgeon Dr. Daniel Yamini speculated that Schwarzenegger has had at least a full face lift, plus maybe more work.
“He’s probably had something done to reduce the prominence of his chin,” Yamini said. “It’s a genioplasty. They can actually reduce the bone by cutting it or sanding it.” The doctor also suggested the possibility of an eyelift and cosmetic eyelid surgery.
Shriver was also examined in her photos for evidence of plastic surgery, but Manhattan surgeon Dr. Gerald Imber told Slate he sees only natural and graceful aging.
“She’s got big cheekbones and a big chin,” he said. “They’re good for aging and good looks. Everything drapes wonderfully.”
Shriver’s statement did not say whether she would use a hands-free device in the future – and her office had no further comment. On Wednesday, Shriver said she will donate her favorite old cell phone to a program that helps domestic violence, and said “That’s my version of swift action with a higher purpose.”
