Megan Fox is all thumbs, according to observant fans, who say the box office beauty used a body double to hide her unappealing hands.
In Hollywood, actors commonly use body doubles when nudity is involved. But, although Megan Fox was more than happy to appear naked in her last film, Jennifer’s Body, it seems she isn’t quite as comfortable when it comes to her hands.
In her latest role, Megan Fox stars as herself in a Motorola Super Bowl commercial, which features the sexy Transformers star lounging in a bathtub filled with strategically placed suds to protect her modesty. However, some viewers were quick to note that Fox employed a thumb double on the close-up of her hand scrolling through the Motorola phone.
Turns out, Fox reportedly suffers from brachydactyly, a rare condition better known as a “clubbed thumbs.”
Brachydacyly is not serious, according to leading New York hand surgeon Dr. Steven Bendner, who last year told the NY Daily News, “Literally what it means is short finger. The nail of the thumb in this condition is often very short and wide. It is usually hereditary.”
Although about 1 in 1,000 people are affected with brachydactyly, there is no treatment, and plastic surgery is only indicated if the condition affects hand function, but is typically not needed. In Fox’s case, fans are likely willing to overlook her mildly misshapen digit and focus on her other, more flattering assets.
