‘Melrose Place’ Evicts Ashlee Simpson

Melrose Place decided that Ashlee Simpson’s lease is up. But, why did the producers write her out of the show, and who will replace her?

ashlee_simpson04_cAs Melrose Place ratings tank, the writers are hoping a new feel will help bring the show back to life. To accomplish that, Ashlee Simpson’s character is being written out of the show. Simpson says she was aware that was how things would end.

“Although I always knew her story would come to a final, insanely unpredictable end,” Simpson told Access Hollywood, “Playing a creepy, unstable character was something I always wanted to do, so I jumped at the chance. Thanks to The CW and the entire cast and crew of ‘Melrose Place’ for allowing me this opportunity!”

Also new for Melrose place, veteran actress Heather Locklear will begin appearing regularly to reprise her role as cutthroat PR rep Amanda Woodward. Producers are hoping the cameo will help the shows’ less-than-stellar ratings.

One thing both Locklear and Simpson have in common? A good plastic surgeon. Simpson went under the knife in 2006 for a nose job, and, claims InTouch Weekly, undergoes regular Botox injections to keep her wide-eyed look.

Although Simpson finally admitted to the nose job in early 2008, her rep credits her brow to her make-up artist, not Botox. “Ashlee has never had Botox in her life,” the rep told Access. “She credits her eyebrows to her makeup artist who is a whiz with the tweezer.”

But, Botox is definitely on the menu for Locklear, Dr. Paul Nassif told MakeMeHeal.com. “Her cheeks are now much plumper when compared to her earlier days, which could be a result of injectables or fat grafting. Her eyes don’t appear to have been surgically altered. Like many celebrities, I’m sure she gets Botoxed.”

Locklear makes her debut on Melrose place November 17, while Simpson’s last episode will air in January.
