Michelle Obama Shines At State Dinner

Michelle Obama stuns in gown by Naeem Khan at the White House State Dinner. But, fans still wonder – how does she keep her arms in such great shape?

Michelle Obama Vogue CoverMichelle Obama was the buzz of fashion blog this morning after wearing designer Naeem Khan to the White House State Dinner in honor of Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and his wife, Gursharan Kaur last night.

The dress, an entirely handmade affair that took 40 people to make, was created in Khan’s family workshop in India. Khan designed several gowns for Mrs. Obama to choose from, based from a White House missive requesting “Indian, chic, simple, but very glamorous.”

With the emphasis on Indian styling for the banquet, Mrs. Obama chose a bevy of diamond and gold bangles as accessories, a nod to traditional Indian styling.  The strapless dress and bracelets also showed off what many would consider the First Lady’s best asset: her arms.

Since the rise of Barack Obama as a presidential candidate, the press has been fascinated with Michelle Obama’s physique, mainly her toned arms. Many women in their 30s and 40s experience sagging in that area, affectionately termed “bat wings” or “bingo arms,” but there are a number of things one can do to eliminate fat in that area.

One popular procedure to firm up batwings is called an arm lift, or brachioplasty, which fixes the lost thickness and elasticity of skin as you age. Many also opt for lipo in this area to help get rid of fat layers.

However, Obama hasn’t had an arm lift, rather, she told People magazine, she works out and does strength training. “The Obama effect has been that women of all ages have been inspired to take responsibility for their health and their body,” personal trainer Rylan Duggan told CNN. “As the first lady of the United States, at 44 years old, and with two young children, Mrs. Obama has shown the world that you are never too busy to take care of yourself and look good doing it too,” he said.
