  1. Caroline Glicksman, MD responded:

A “mini abdominoplasty is a term used by some plastic surgeons to describe a procedure that addresses looses skin and some muscle laxity on the lower portion of the abdomen. The advantages of this procedure for some women is that it requires less involved surgery, shorter scars, and often a quicker recovery. Although this is an option for some women, there are also trade-offs associated with this procedure. Because the surgery does not usually involve relocating the umbilicus, it usually does not address weakness or separation of the abdominal muscles or loose skin above the level of the belly button.
Knowing what a “mini-abdominoplasty” can and cannot do for you is very important. Careful evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon will help you determine if a “mini-abdominoplasty” is enough to fully correct your skin and muscle laxity and provide long-lasting results.
