New Moon star Robert Pattinson hits the December 2009 Vanity Fair cover. An interview captures the actor’s thoughts on stardom – and his inability to accept his own.
New Moon star Robert Pattinson is, at the moment, one of the world’s most famous people. He is also among the last people to understand why. Based on his new interview in the December 2009 edition of Vanity Fair, the logic behind his nearly universal appeal isn’t something that occurs to him.
“I guess I’m not the type of guy cut out to do a franchise,” he said, adding later that he feels his natural looks make him resemble “a cartoon character.” According to the interview, Pattinson has felt guilty about and nearly crushed by his past year of superstardom – which, for a 23-year-old in his position, is reasonable. “I’m trying not to drown,” he said.
Pattinson also dismissed ongoing rumors about an affair between him and New Moon co-star Kristen Stewart. “It doesn’t make any difference what you say (to the tabloids),” he said. “I’ve literally been across the country (from Stewart), and it’s like ‘Oh, they were on secret dates!’ It’s like ‘Where? I can’t get out of my hotel room!’”
The full interview will be available in December. Until then, it’s hard to say if Pattinson will reference any other rumors, such as speculation about possible plastic surgery. Talk of rhinoplasty has followed this lad about as long as he has been in public sight – though there may not even be much for him to admit.
Only his own answer, one way or another, will suffice.
