New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Led By Dick Clark Despite Health Issues

New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will be co-hosted by the ever-young Dick Clark. Wondering how he has kept his youthful look?

Despite suffering a stroke in 2004, Dick Clark has been tagged “America’s Oldest Teenager,” whether he likes it or not. And even with a slow recovery from health problems, he’s still more or less in form – and will again join Ryan Seacrest to co-host New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2010 live from Times Square on December 31.

“He’s in great shape, and he’ll be in the studio with us,” Seacrest told E! Online. Musical guests will include Jennifer Lopez, Black Eyed Peas, Selena Gomez, Colbie Caillat, Robin Thicke and others.

Clark is enthusiastic to be a part of the year-end circus one more time, even if health problems are limiting his participation.

“Having been given the opportunity to ring in the New Year for the last 37 years, I look forward to doing it again,” he told The New York Post. “Though I wish my speech was clearer, I must admit the encouragement I’ve received from so many people inspires me because apparently my appearance serves as a good motivation for others who have suffered a stroke. Obviously, a majority of the on-air work is handled by Ryan, but I’m given the chance to join in and most appreciate it.”

While time takes a toll on all, some span their decades more gracefully than others. Dick Clark has the “teenager” nickname for good reason; even with age and some recent physical failings, he still looks much younger than he is. He always has, of course. But in recent years, despite countless jokes posted online about Clark having plastic surgery, he has never confirmed (nor denied) going under the knife. In fact, he wrote a book in 1981 called Looking Good, Staying Young in which he attributed his youthful look to good genes and taking excellent care of himself.

But photos throughout the years suggest at least one facelift, and possibly more. Through his 50s, good genes could have explained his youthful appearance, but at age 80, a face lift (or two) is the best explanation. Regardless, Clark walks through his autumn years with well-preserved features.
