Richard J. Restifo M.D.’s training, experience, honesty, and attention to individual care have made him a leading and highly sought after plastic surgeon of the breast and body. Dr. Restifo is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and underwent residency training in surgery and plastic surgery at Georgetown University Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh. He then took a faculty position at the Yale University School of Medicine where he served as Director of Surgery in the Section of Plastic Surgery. He has been a member of the faculties of both the Atlanta Breast Surgery and Body Contouring Symposium and the Santa Fe Breast and Body Contouring Surgery Symposium. He has served as Chair of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation Instructional Course Breast Subcommittee, as well as the American Board of Medical Examiners’ In-Service Committee. He has written extensively on plastic surgery of the breast and has presented at symposia in both the United States and Europe. For over 25 years he has a performed plastic surgery of the breast and body with passion and dedication.

Dr. Restifo is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the New England Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Connecticut Society of Plastic Surgeons. For 10 years he served as the Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He holds the honor of being chosen by his peers as one of the “Best Doctors in America” consecutively every year since 1994. He has also been named multiple times as among “America’s Best Surgeons” by the Consumer Research Council of America as well as one of the “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area” as determined by the prestigious Castle Connolly group. Dr. Restifo is in private practice in Orange, Connecticut where his patients come to see him from across the country and around the world.

Dr. Restifo lends his time and expertise to improve the lives of impoverished people through plastic and reconstructive surgery. As a member of INTERPLAST he joined elite teams on missions to underdeveloped nations, working in Brazil to improve reconstructive breast surgery for cancer patients. Dr. Restifo recalls these experiences as an “exhilarating high point in his surgical career” and found it deeply gratifying to restore a better quality of life to the patients he served.
