Simon Cowell Puts His Money Where His Mouth Is

Simon Cowell has inked a $100-million dollar deal for new reality series. The famed talent critic has plenty of bad things to say about contestants, but not Botox.

Simon CowellLove or hate Simon Cowell, viewers just can’t get enough of him. Reuters reports that Cowell made a deal to bring his British talent search show, The X Factor, to American viewers. That, in combination with renewing his two-year contract for American Idol, will net him $100 million each per year.

Rumors are flying as to who the judges for X Factor will be. Thus far, ex-Idol judge, Paula Abdul, along with two judges from the British version, pop star Cheryl Cole and talent manager Louis Walsh, have both been named.

The show will appear on Fox, unlike his other two ventures, America’s Got Talent and American Inventor, which are aired on other networks. A date for X Factor’s premiere has not yet been released.

Cowell at first inspired hatred from contestants and viewers alike when he began shocking audiences on American Idol with his stinging criticism and witty comebacks. Those freely flung criticisms have left him open for some attacks of his own.

The UK Times asked, “Is he a spiteful, malicious little man with ludicrously white teeth?”

And, Idol co-host Ryan Seacrest told UK’s Daily Mail that Cowell “has so much Botox he can’t scowl.”

While Simon Cowell has admitted that he wears platform heels to give him extra height, he has said he would never color his hair or get plastic surgery. “It looks ridiculous on guys,” he told the Daily Mail.

“But Botox? That’s a different story,” he said to People magazine, “To me, Botox is no more unusual than toothpaste. It works, you do it once a year – who cares?”
