So You Think You Can Dance Judge Cat Deeley is a harsh critic of her own looks. But instead of obsessing over them, she says she has a way to keep her flaws secret.
Cat Deeley makes a living judging other people’s talent – or lack thereof – on So You Think You Can Dance. But when asked how she thinks she’ll age, she doesn’t have a clear opinion.
“I don’t know. So far I’ve been lucky,” she told OK! magazine. “I’ve got quite nice skin and I’m aging well Ask me in 30 years, and I may say something totally different.” She may indecisive about her future looks because as a kid, she told BBC 5 host Richard Bacon, she was less than pretty and not very popular with the boys. “I had very, very thin legs and one line over my forehead and that I looked like a Gallagher. I was not very swan-like at the time.”
Deeley says she has the same insecurities and hang-ups about her body that other women have, but with one main difference: She doesn’t talk about them as an adult. “Most of it is in your head, so if you don’t tell people, they don’t notice.”
But she is worried about how she’ll look in the future, and says if things don’t hold up well, she may go shopping for a good plastic surgeon. “What if in 30 years everyone’s doing it and I look like some old bag? And what if my nice smile has fallen, and I’m slightly balding with varicose veins?!” In that case, says Deeley, all bets are off.
