<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-2179" title="microdermabrasion" src="http://psc-live.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/microdermabrasion-300x225.jpg" alt="microdermabrasion" width="192" height="144" />Next in the news, we know by now what microdermabrasion can do for the skin. But, a new study at the University of Michigan shows that to get the best results, the rougher, the better.</p>
<p>Researchers performed microdermabrasion on 40 volunteers. They found that when they used tools with a course grit, the skin samples were visibly improved over samples rubbed with a medium grit.</p>
<p>A dermatology doctor at the university explained that the more abrasive treatment on the skin helped generate more collagen, or skin protein. This, he said, can improve the appearance of a person&#8217;s skin.</p>
<p>He also said that microdermabrasion can&#8217;t quite replace laser resurfacing, which is a stronger technique. But, that technique also requires a long healing period.</p>
<p>Aggressive microdermabrasion, on the other hand, requires less healing and can produce worthy results. Video plays below.</p>
