Unlicensed Doc Used Vet Instruments for Surgery

Here’s another story that comes under the heading, “What was the patient thinking?”

After authorities in Madrid, Spain received a complaint about a shoddy breast implant, their investigation turned up a truly horrifying business operation.

They discovered an unlicensed male practicing medicine out of his home. He performed cosmetic procedures such as breast and buttock implants, using veterinary implements such as a tool normally used for injecting animals.

Even more disturbing, the man allegedly worked in the company of his household pets, which include 3 dogs, a cat and a parrot.

The Catalonian regional police say they arrested the man for practicing medicine without a license and in filthy conditions.

This report comes on the heels of the death of Siordaliza Pichardo of New York. Pichardo died last month after allowing a friend to inject her thighs with silicone to achieve a smoother appearance.

In the U.S. cosmetologists can be licensed to perform certain cosmetic procedures. Unfortunately, in this instance, Pichardo’s friend was unlicensed, and untrained, for silicone injections.

These tragic stories underscore the following important point: If you are considering cosmetic plastic surgery look for a surgeon who is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery or the American Society of Plastic Surgery, both of which verify board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, as well as other important training criteria.

Many adult men and women who have flat or undeveloped buttocks can be self-conscious about their backside and desire fuller, rounder or firmer buttocks.  Surgical buttock augmentation is also sometimes performed on male-to-female gender reassignment surgery or on transgender or transsexual women who wish to have more feminine buttocks.
