Bruce Willis has no plans to get plastic surgery, but did acknowledge the industry as permanent, and not just a trend. This week’s Plastic Surgery News tells all.

Bruce Willis has gone on record as saying he’s no fan of plastic surgery. His ex-wife Demi Moore may or may not be a frequent patron of the surgical arts – she hasn’t confirmed having any cosmetic procedures – but the Die Hard star says he has no plans to go under the knife.

In a recent interview with FOX News, Willis admitted that plastic surgery is a big business and here to stay. But, he also said he doesn’t give much thought to ever having surgery, although there are plenty of male actors who do.

There are also everyday guys who have plastic surgery to look like Bruce Willis. In late 2006, a 43-year-old Chicago fireman named John Conway went to a hospital in India to get cosmetic surgery on his jaw line.

He reportedly arrived for surgery with a photo of Bruce Willis– and doctors studied his face for three days to make John Conway look more like John McClane. Video plays below.

Love has reportedly undergone rhinoplasty, lip injections and breast implants, but has decided to draw a line. Having seen Wildenstein, Love considers her “freaky “and the rocker does not, quote, “want to end up looking like her.” Video plays below.

The View hostess Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned on October 19 from maternity leave – and had a funny anecdote about a revealing photo.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck deserves points for calling out her own blunders. She returned to her seat on The View on October 19, after being on maternity leave with her new son Isaiah. The leave included baby pictures – one, in particular, she said, that created some embarrassment.

“You know when your baby smiles for the first time?” she said to View co-hosts. “I reach for the iPhone – I had just been feeding him – and I took the photo. And he had this huge, huge smile and it was the cutest picture, so immediately I forward it to everyone on my family distribution list. I get home and I open up the photoNo wonder why he is smiling, because my nipple is in the photo!”

Hasselbeck’s bare breast was partially on view in a picture with her newborn – an image that she’ll probably keep out of future scrapbooks.

“It’s worse than drunk dialing to forward pictures post-partum,” she said told her co-hostesses.

Hasselbeck herself hasn’t been tied to plastic surgery by rumor or confirmation, though it is true that she is now the mother of three. And, after hearing her story about the picture, it’s also true that she is nursing.

The hostess hasn’t been reported as having had breast augmentation – such as breast implants – but mothers who have had it are advised against nursing. A study from the Institute of Medicine found that breast augmentation renders a woman three times less likely to provide an infant with an adequate supply of milk.

And, aside from nursing issues, Hasselbeck joins many celebrity mothers who face the consideration of plastic surgery as a way of regaining their pre-pregnancy figure. She may soon examine the prospects of the “mommy makeover,” which offers new mothers cosmetic procedures on body parts that sustain the effects of pregnancy. This includes the breast lift, tummy tuck or many manners of liposuction.

Hasselbeck may not opt for any of these – but if she does, it may not be wise to pull out the iPhone and capture the results in pictures.

Radiesse, an injectable filler, is now a popular non-invasive procedure used to augment nipples.

It seems many surgeons are using a new non-surgical technique to provide nipple enhancement.

The technique involves using an injectable filler called Radiesse in breast augmentation or reduction procedures to enhance the shape and size of the nipple. Specifically, the filler can help create a visible balance between the size of the areola and the size of the nipple.

Radiesse is a calcium-based gel normally used to correct facial wrinkles and restore tissue volume. But some surgeons say it can also smooth out the texture of the nipple and give it more volume. This can be helpful after a breast augmentation or reduction that improve the breast but leaves the nipple area looking disproportionate.

Using filler injections can also reduce the appearance of scarring on the breast so it looks more natural and aesthetically pleasing. Currently there are no real scientific studies on the safety and effectiveness of the technique. Patients interested in nipple augmentation should discuss the procedure with a board certified plastic surgeon before choosing to undergo breast surgery.

Liposuction without cosmetic surgery? Some British men will soon find that they can get the same slimming effects without going under the knife through one hidden part of their wardrobe.

A new line of “power pants” are available for men in some British department stores. This is entirely new in the United Kingdom–and we’re wondering if the Queen Mum will approve of these underwear, resembling boxer briefs, that provide body contouring.

Produced by a company called Equmen, the pants use compression–basically, it’s a girdle styled for men with a more masculine name slapped on. The power pants lift and smooth out the buttocks and upper legs–sound familiar, ladies?

Power pants also include a body temperature pouch that works with the special design to keep moisture levels under control.

The new Equmen product is in stores for less than 25 pounds a pair. They’re designed to offer men the appearance of a perfect figure from the waist down. And they can also be used with the company’s previously launched array of “control vests” that trim chubby tummies.

While women may find it funny that men are finally succumbing to the shapers, at least these items are more straightforward than the so-called “cellulite-beating” pants that were released in Britain earlier this year by another company. That product claimed to melt cellulite by way of infrared crystals inside the fabric that heated up the skin when you put them on.

Not much is known about of the success of this product since it first hit stores overseas.

Michelle Pfeiffer is Hollywood royalty, and there was a time when her name on the marquee guaranteed a hit. These days, the 51-year-old’s film career may be cooling down, but the star herself has stayed smokin’ hot, thanks to some rumored cosmetic surgeries.

Michelle Pfeiffer is Hollywood royalty. After three Oscar nominations, numerous blockbuster hits, and being the first covergirl for People’s Most Beautiful issue, her success is undeniable. But, as Michelle crossed the magic five-oh last year, some fear her career may be dwindling.

Two of her most recent flicks have gone straight to DVD and her newest project, Cheri, is the target of not-so-hot reviews. Entertainment Daily wrote “Michelle Pfeiffer is radiant, but Cheri fails to shine as a romance.”

Which begs the question: Is turning 50 the kiss of death for stars who are known to large extent for their stunning looks?

If that’s the case, Michelle shouldn’t have much to fear. The sultry blonde celebrated her 51st birthday this April, and looks utterly remarkable for her age. Cosmetic surgery rumors have circulated for some time — including talk that she had a rhinoplasty early in her career, and more recently got cheek implants — although Ms. Pfeiffer has yet to admit she had any work done.

“I don’t have anything against it and I think there is a lot of real pressure on aging women these days. If I look in the mirror one day and I can’t stand it anymore then I might be there,” she has been quoted as saying.

In 2006, she also opened up to In Style, admitting that she had toyed with the idea of a little nip and tuck. “When I’m rested, I look pretty darn OK. I can hold off on that facelift for another few years. But when I’m feeling weary, then I think, maybe I better make that appointment,” she said. One year later, Pfeiffer she showed up at the premiere of Hairspray without a single crease on her forehead. Hmm, perhaps she made that appointment.

In a report on MakeMeHeal.com, plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia speculated, “She’s had a fair amount of facial surgery, but looks nice. I’d guess facelift, eyes, nose plus skin care.”

Like many celebrity cosmetic conundrums, the world may never know. But, fans still find Pfeiffer breathtaking, and hope the Dangerous Liaisons darling can spice up her professional life soon.

Plastic surgery to cure migraine headaches? A breakthrough study reveals that cosmetic surgery can take away the pain of migraines – and remove a few wrinkles at the same time.

Three surgeons in Cleveland have spent a decade examining the effect that a facelift can have on the nerves that cause migraines. The results, published in this month’s edition of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, are based on a theory that migraines are caused by trigger points in the facial nerves.

The original study, led by Dr. Bahman Guyuron, included 75 people who suffered migraines. They were first given Botox injections in various parts of the face and neck to show the surgeons how the trigger points responded to a facelift.

Many of the patients reported relief from their headaches, but the effects of Botox, by nature, are temporary. So the doctors then performed face lift surgery to disable the various trigger points.

Patients who had experienced forehead migraines, for example, had their frowning muscles removed. Those who had been suffering pain in the temple area were given nerve surgery that lifted their eyebrows.

A year after the surgeries, more than half the patients reported complete relief from migraines and many others reported a heavy reduction of migraine symptoms.

Currently, more than 400 people have successfully undergone this treatment, though medical advisors are saying it should be reserved for migraine patients who have exhausted all other options.

Plastic surgery is becoming a more common part of wedding planning, as brides and grooms consider cosmetic surgery procedures to look their best in wedding photos and on their honeymoon.

More and more Americans are seeking cosmetic surgery in hopes of improving the rest of their lives, but there has been a growing trend in patients who want work done to improve only one day – their wedding day.

Surgeons from Georgia to California are admitting that many patients, men and women, are undergoing procedures to look more attractive as brides and grooms.

Interestingly, many of these requests aren’t necessarily made with the long term in mind. Dr. Foad Nahai, past president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, pointed out during an interview with another media outlet that often people seek cosmetic surgery to simply improve how they look in their wedding photos and how they will look on the beach during those tropical honeymoons.

He said, patients ask for everything from Botox injections to facelifts, eyelid surgeries, liposuction, tummy tucks and even full body lifts. Brides-to-be are requesting breast augmentations, and both genders are demanding laser skin therapies.

Most of these procedures, of course, require weeks or months of preparation prior to the big day, since the patient needs ample recovery time so they don’t walk down the aisle bandaged and bruised.

“Timing of your surgery prior to a major event like a wedding is very crucial,” said San Diego plastic surgeon Brian Reagan. “It’s important that you give yourself time to seek out multiple consultations, and to give yourself not only plenty of time to heal when things go as planned, but…you need to give yourself time to do a revision, if that’s necessary.”

Dr. Reagan noted that some patients will start planning their cosmetic surgery up to a year prior to a wedding to get the look they want.

And, he made another alarming revelation: These pre-wedding surgeries aren’t always just limited to the bride and groom, but also their parents, aunts, uncles and even long-time family friends.

Who knows? It might not be too long before couples start adding Botox and lipo to their wedding registries.

Simon Cowell is gearing up for his ninth season as the curmudgeonly judge on American Idol, yet he appears immune to the ravages of time. His secret? Regular Botox injections, Cowell says, admitting it’s an important part of his beauty regimen.

American Idol‘s Mr. Nasty has a new pop culture phenomenon to promote, but this time it’s not a boy band, girl group, or hot new diva. The object of his affection? Botox.

Yes, the ever-snarky Simon Cowell has proclaimed his love for the wrinkle removing injections.

According to a recent report on Contactmusic.com, Botox is an important part of the music mogul’s beauty regimen. Said Cowell, “To me, Botox is no more unusual than toothpaste. It works, you do it once a year – who cares?” Simon also noted that it was very common among his friends and others in the entertainment arena.

However, his comment about going under the needle only once in a year has raised some eyebrows. For one, the manufacturer of Botox recommends patients receive injections every four months to reduce moderate to severe frown lines. In addition, recently rumors have circulated that Cowell may be spending too much time in the doctor’s office.

Piers Morgan, Simon Cowell’s costar on Britain’s Got Talent, was quoted as saying his castmate “should be dead” considering his way too frequent use of the product.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest also has an opinion about Simon’s Botox habits. “You wouldn’t know (if he’s angry) because of all the shots. The angry face is the same as the happy face,” Seacrest recently said on the Ellen DeGenres show.

But Simon adamantly denies any overuse of the wrinkle relaxer. This past spring, Cowell told the Daily Mail, “I have not had cosmetic surgery. Yes, I’ve had Botox, but not in an obsessive way.”

The newest gossip making the rounds is that Simon Cowell is recommending the treatment to his famous friends. In July, The Plastic Surgery Channel reported that Cowell had suggested the neurotoxin to another famous reality show menace, Chef Gordon Ramsay. Sources reported that Cowell told the maniacal TV personality and Hell’s Kitchen star that he “had to do something about that” chin. Ramsay decided to give the advice a try, and soon he, too, climbed on board the Botox bandwagon.

If he continues down this path, Simon Cowell soon may be joining the ranks of Janice Dickinson, Joan Rivers, and other celebs who become overly obsessed with cosmetic surgery. Let us hope not. We’d like to see a few frown lines for those “bloody awful” Idol contestants.

Free Botox treatments and hair transplants are the unconventional prizes offered in a controversial contest aimed at helping job seekers get an edge on the competition. Contestants have to persuade the judges why they need and deserve the cosmetic procedures more than anyone else. The public will choose the winner from 20 finalists, American Idol-style.

A radical new contest is underway in New England that will treat the winner to free hair plugs and Botox injections.

To qualify to win, however, this person will have to be both unemployed and very unhappy with what he or she sees in the mirror.

Leonard Hair Transplant Associates is sponsoring this contest for jobless residents in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. It’s based on the premise that succeeding in the job market comes from being confident – and that confidence can be increased through a more attractive appearance.

Unemployed residents have been invited to submit photos and personal statements through a website. They’re being asked to persuasively explain why they need and deserve the cosmetic procedures more than anyone else. The competition will select 20 finalists. From that point, the public will be invited to choose one winner and a runner-up, American Idol-style.

Leonard Hair Transplant Associates has seen an increase in patients seeking hair restoration for job reasons, and hit upon the contest as a way to celebrate 20 years in business. Some are calling the contest irresponsible and unethical – saying that offering cosmetic surgery as a contest prize disrupts the traditional relationship between doctors and patients.

But statistics can’t be ignored. The national unemployment rate was 9.5 percent as of June. And a recent survey by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery confirmed that three out of four surgeons had helped patients who sought an operation mainly because they wanted to stay competitive in the job market.
