Charlie Sheen has nothing if not a random sense of humor. True, that may not have been in evidence over the Christmas holidays when he was arrested for allegedly threatening his wife Brooke Mueller in Aspen, Colorado. But a crime report – courtesy of the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department – revealed that Sheen not only has ten tattoos, but plans to remove four of them through a cosmetic surgery procedure while keeping some of the more humorously bizarre ones.

According to RadarOnline.com, laser tattoo removal will soon do away with images of angel wings, a Japanese samurai, a Yankees baseball icon and an open zipper with an eyeball emerging.

Those are all going. Which ones are staying? Among others, Sheen is keeping tattoos of a burning Marlboro, a sign reading “Back In 15 Min.,” a stingray, a baseball and Charlie Brown uttering the word “Mom.” The actor is actually down from 12 tattoos, having had two of them already erased. One bore the name of actress Denise Richards, his former wife.

Body art is common for many; body art removal is inevitable for some. But even in this day and age, as men are living months at a time on space stations, the process of erasing tattoos remains long and arduous. Surgeons often perform laser removal on a single piece of body art during sessions that occur every couple months for up to a year, maybe longer. Their laser tools break down tattoo ink into smaller bits, making it easier for human skin to naturally fade it out. Without the assistance of the laser, this natural fading process would take decades. Even still, removing a tattoo doesn’t occur overnight, and may never become that rapid.

Those who may have been curious about Charlie Sheen’s inventory of body art are now duly educated, thanks to a sheriff’s report following his arrest. But given a choice, the actor probably would have preferred the public finding out some other way.

Miley Cyrus is just 17, but already she’s gotten a tattoo. Pictures of the teen queen surfaced from her Miami vacation at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami after the conclusion of her U.S. tour.

The Disney starlet has been bugging her parents for ink since she was 15, according to Star Magazine. “She’s trying to play her mom, Tish, against her dad to get one of them to agree to the tattoo,” her friend let slip to the mag in January. “So far, her mom is the one who seems more cool with the idea than Billy Ray.”

The proposed idea included the initals of her then-boyfriend Justin Gaston, an underwear model.

The tattoo seen in Miami was “Just breathe” written in script under the star’s left breast. Miley still would have to have gotten a parent to sign off to get the ink, but that likely wasn’t hard being that brother Trace and dad Billy Ray have matching tattoos. Trace has also talked about getting tattooed with Miley when she is old enough.

However, depending on how deeply Miley considered the tat before committing, tattoo removal might be in her future. Many older stars with maturity on their side have famously been inked and erased.

Johnny Depp had part of Winona Ryder’s name erased from his arm. Angelina Jolie got laser tattoo removal to completely expunge Billy Bob Thornton’s name from her body, and Charlie Sheen did the same with an ink tribute to former wife Denise Richards on his left wrist.

Hopefully, Miley considered her choice of words carefully.

After just a month of dating Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom tied the knot, and eventually reached a prenuptial agreement. Now the couple has gotten matching tattoos after just over a month of marriage.

“Saturday night Lamar and I were eating at Sunset Plaza and I just said, ‘Let’s go to Tattoo Mania! I want a tattoo,’ said Khloe on her blog. “I think the best tattoo experiences are the spontaneous ones, because that way you are not only left with the tattoo, but an amazing memory to go along with it!”

She continues, “When we were at dinner, I just knew I wanted a tattoo for Lamar in the web of my hand, and then once we got to the shop we decided on getting each other’s initials. I got ‘LO’ in cursive on my right hand and he got ‘KO’ on both hands.”

The pair isn’t the only celeb couple to make it official with ink. Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen once had his and hers tats, but after their break up, Richards has covered hers with a fairy and Sheen had his removed. Angelina Jolie covered her tattoo tribute to Billy Bob Thornton with the coordinates of her adopted children’s birthplaces. Britney Spears had the Hebrew lettering on the back of her neck removed.

Stars are using tattoo removal as a convenient way to clean up “spontaneous” tattoo experiences. Laser tattoo removal takes about six to eight treatments in a little under two years to complete, and tattoos like Lamar and Khloe’s – simple, black outlines – respond best to the laser.

But for now, Khloe is keeping the tat. Her other tattoo is “I love you” in her father’s cursive script on the inside of her wrist. She got it in August 2008.

Denise Richards has a spectacular figure, and she recently disclosed to shock jock Howard Stern that it only took her three breast augmentations to get it that way.

Denise is naturally thin with a small frame, and says that at 19 she was, quote, “Flat as a pancake!”

When her roommate got gorgeous results from a breast augmentation, Denise decided to get the procedure, too. But she was less than satisfied with the results, as the implants were too large.

Visiting another surgeon, Denise expressed dissatisfaction and requested the implants be replaced. Unfortunately, she didn’t tell the doctor why she was unhappy. He presumed that an actress would want larger rather than smaller implants. Denise ended up with D cup implants–even larger than before, and far too large for her petite frame.

Talk about a communication breakdown!

A final visit to a surgeon, and very specific instructions, and now Denise has the breasts she wanted all along!

The moral of the story? Always communicate the specifics of what you’re aiming for with your surgeon and do lots of research on your doctor, or risk multiple surgeries, thousands of dollars and weeks of recovery time.
