New statistics show that the demand for younger-looking skin has seen a skyrocket in recent years. The October edition of Dermatologic Surgery included survey data spanning from 2001 to 2007, showing a 120 percent increase in cosmetic and nonsurgical facial procedures during that time span.

This includes laser skin resurfacing and soft tissue augmentations. The patients in the survey were all between the ages of 40 and 55. Commenting on the data, researchers say this major growth has two causes: Advancements in dermatology techniques, and an increased desire to stop or reverse signs of aging skin.
