The Face of Plastic Surgery is Changing

The Face of Plastic Surgery is Changing

Plastic surgery traditionally is thought of as an intensive process that requires a lot of down-time, the need for a care-taker and sometimes pain. These thoughts of surgery may have prevented many of  us from a procedure that could have been life changing. However, non-invasive procedures have started to change the face of plastic surgery.

Dr. Mark Elliott, a board-certified plastic surgeon from Meridian, Mississippi discusses how new technology for plastic surgery is “going to bring in more and more people who wouldn’t have otherwise done it.”  Dr. Elliott explains how these non-invasive procedures will also involve “minimal recovery time,” allowing patients to quickly get back into their regular routines.

Love Handles won’t go Away!

For some, as much as they diet and exercise, they still can’t seem to get rid of those love handles, tummy pouches and other problem areas. Love handles are those annoying bulges of excess fat that accumulate around the abdominal area and are almost impossible to get rid of.

Non-Invasive Procedures

Non-invasive procedures and laser procedures are cosmetic beauty treatments for individuals who want to improve the appearance of their face and/or body, but do not wish to undergo the risk of complications, side effects and recovery time associated with more invasive plastic surgery procedures.

“Most people have a fear of surgery and that’s probably good, you shouldn’t just come in and want to have surgery.  But all these non-invasive treatments that are coming out are changing that and those people are suddenly now all coming in,”says Elliott.

Laser Treatments

  • CoolSculpting – Targets only fat cells, eliminating them in a way that exercise and diet can’t achieve as quickly or as effectively. Relying on controlled cooling for non-invasive local reduction of fat deposits to reshape body contours, without apparent damage to the overlying skin.
  • Exilis – provides fast and effective skin tightening, as well as treatment of wrinkles, with visible results often after the first session.  This procedure often complements pre and post treatment in invasive liposuction techniques.
  • Accent Laser Treatment – used to treat the appearance of cellulite. The hand held laser device generates radio frequency waves that penetrate the lower layers of the skin and generate heat.

Shorter Recovery Time

Dr. Elliott notes, “The fact that you can come in, have a procedure, and go home an hour later is amazing.  If you wanted to go to the gym or wanted to go to work, there’s absolutely no down time and that’s the amazing thing.” These procedures provide a quick and painless way to treat your problem areas.
