Tyra Banks, talk show host, model and all around media maven, revealed to fans what she looks like sans the wigs, weaves and extensions she often sports.
Tyra Banks has hyped her hair for some time, but on the fifth season premiere of The Tyra Show, she stunned fans by unveiling her (drum roll please) never-before-seen natural locks.
In an effort to “open up stereotypes of beauty” as she put it, Tyra landed on stage looking sleak and chic with slicked back hair and a tight black outfit. She then wet her hair onstage and invited audience members to come up and verify that it was indeed her real hair.
Tyra tweeted the news to her followers on August 17, saying “Guess What! I’m rockin’ my REAL hair on my talk show September 8. No fake hair at all! Will be the hair coming out of my scalp! 4 all 2 C!”

She then declared in a press release a “National Real Hair Day” in an effort to encourage women to celebrate their inner beauty by going ‘au naturale’.
