Plastic Surgery Patients Referred to Psychologist

Plastic surgery patients, about 20 percent of them, at a London clinic are referred to a psychologist — and some are then rejected for their plastic surgery.

london clinicA London clinic called Mybreast reports that about 20 percent of their plastic surgery patients also get referrals to psychologists. The reason? These patients show expectations about their looks that suggest psychological issues.

Reportedly, most of these patients are women, though some men get referred as well. Commenting on this statistic, clinic surgeon Stephen Hamilton explained that some of these patients are soon diagnosed with a mental disorder and are then rejected for plastic surgery.

London psychologist Dr. Alex Clarke explained that this is because undergoing plastic surgery can put certain patients at risk for further mental disorder afterward. Video plays below.
