The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons has released their annual report on plastic surgery procedure statistics for 2013. Of particular interest, ASAPS found a 12% overall increase in cosmetic procedures performed in the United States.

The take home on these statistics is a trend with patients wanting to look their best. This is supported by an increase in both surgical and non-surgical procedures. The top 2 surgical procedures are again Liposuction with a 16.3 % increase, and Breast Augmentation, with a 5.2% increase. Considering the amount of procedures performed, those percentages indicate a significant increase.

With the rise of Lifestyle Healthcare and patients’ interest in wellness and beauty, the 30% rise in soft tissue fillers (hyaluronic acid) is not surprising.  Not only are the product offerings expanding and getting better (such as the recently approved Voluma), but patients simply want to look and feel their best, and we can deliver that very effectively.
