Boston Plastic Surgeon Reveals Secret to Sculpting Perfect Backside

“When I’m in the operating room trying to make that person more aesthetically pleasing based on her aesthetic and my aesthetic, I’m using fashion and creativity to change that shape,” says Dr. Dan Del Vecchio, a board certified plastic surgeon and a leader in the field of fat grafting.

An artist is someone who creates something that is aesthetically pleasing to others, and when you think about it, your plastic surgeon should have an artistic eye. Plastic surgeons routinely change the shape of our bodies; sometimes taking away fat, other times replacing fat in specific areas. The most common places to add or replace fat are the face, breasts and buttocks. Before you jump into a surgical procedure that involves fat grafting or fat transfer, make sure your plastic surgeon is board certified and has plenty of experience along with an artistic eye for what’s current and beautiful.

Art in the Operating Room

Here, Del Vecchio explains how he views the surgical procedure as a work of art. “If you don’t look at a lot of buttocks, and you don’t appreciate what makes a buttock good looking, you’re not going to have any chance of making that buttock look as good because you don’t have the aesthetic in your mind. You have to know what it’s supposed to look like, who you are operating on and the different cultural variations into what constitutes an aesthetically pleasing buttock. I think that we as plastic surgeons definitely need to be more fashion conscious, we need to appreciate what beautiful is, not only in the body but in clothing and shoes, because it will put us in better touch with our patients.”

The Ideal Candidate – Buttock Augmentation

The typical patient for a buttock augmentation has a boxy, flat or square rear end and wants more curves. Or, she may be very thin and just wants more volume in her backside. Whatever the case, if you can’t attain the buttock shape and contour you desire on your own,  Del Vecchio may be able to help.  He sees hundreds of patients in his Boston plastic surgery office that are frustrated by their lack of curves and need assistance to achieve the buttock they desire.

Buttock augmentation using fat is performed by liposuctioning fat from another area and instead of discarding the fat, the fat is processed and re-injected into the buttocks. The results of this procedure, when properly performed, says Del Vecchio can be spectacular.
