Lose Belly Fat Without Surgery

Lose Belly Fat Without Surgery

Many of us are interested in contouring our bodies in a non-surgical fashion. We are desperately trying to loose that extra belly fat or love handles that never seem to go away.  Liposuction can be a little extreme, especially when it’s for a small area on the body. Dr. Grant Stevens, a board certified plastic surgeon from Los Angeles, California, talks about the latest technologies that removes fat without surgery.

Freeze Away your Fat with CoolSculpting

“We have 11 fat removal devices at our office that do not require surgery. Out of them, our most successful technology over the last four years is CoolSculpting,” says Dr. Stevens.

CoolSculpting works on the principle that fat cells are more easily affected by cold temperatures than other cells of the body. An applicator is applied to areas where patients would like to lose fat, and cold temperatures attack the fat cells, while keeping the rest of the cells in the area unaffected. “Once the fat cells are treated, they are gradually eliminated through your body’s own metabolic process, reducing the thickness of the fat layer,” says Dr. Stevens. “It’s an amazing phenomenon. After about two to three months the fat disappears and you lose about 25-30% of the fat that you had in the applicator.”

There are five different applicators ranging from small to double wide. Different applicators pull different amounts of skin and fat based on the areas of the body you’re looking to modify. “By changing the applicator, you can literally contour a specific part of the body, like the abdomen,” says Stevens. “You are getting liposuction-like results without liposuction. It does however, require multiple treatments in multiple areas.”

No Downtime; Return to your Normal Routine Immediately

wp2The CoolScuplting procedure requires no anesthesia or pain medication. You can return to a normal routine immediately, including exercising, work and any other necessary activities. Possible side effects are redness on the treated area, but that should clear within hours. Bruising may also occur, but will fade away within weeks

This is not a weight loss solution for people who are overweight or obese, nor is it a substitute for liposuction. Good candidates have noticeable bulges in certain areas, like the belly or the waist. You should seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to make sure CoolSculpting is right for you.

“CoolSculpting is safe, it works and it is cost effective,” says Stevens. “If you want to be thin and not take any time away from work or home, go with CoolSculpting.”
