Luis Rios, MD
Dr. Rios feels fortunate to have returned to South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, an area he is proud to call home. He also feels fortunate to have brought back his world-class education from institutions like Harvard to an area often considered as underserved.. As such, he combines an academic flare with his down to earth connection to the distinct culture of South Texas. As a homegrown Texan on the Mexican Border, he is equally comfortable doing his consults in English and Spanish. His easygoing nature makes him one of the most popular plastic surgeons in South Texas. This is evidenced by the fact that he has been voted as McAllen’s favorite Plastic Surgeon for 17 years in a row.
Underneath his down to earth exterior, Dr. Rios is also known for his passion regarding issues important to all Plastic Surgeons and their patients. He will be the future president of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and the President of the Aesthetic Society Education and Research foundation. In addition to taking care of his patients, Dr. Rios is very active writing research papers, book chapters and serving on patient safety committees that investigate the latest hot topics in plastic surgery.
Dr. Rios believes his work life should be balanced with his personal life. He enjoys jogging, reading and traveling. He is an avid pet lover and is a proud owner of ten dogs. However, he considers his greatest accomplishment as the raising of his family. He has been married for over twenty years and his children proudly attend college at his Alma mater- Harvard.
On paper, Dr. Rios may seem like a busy plastic surgeon. But most patients feel he takes his time with them and answers all their questions. It’s not uncommon for his patients to be heard laughing and giggling by the time he finishes his light hearted but thorough consultations.
