No More Coping with Cellulite

No More Coping with Cellulite

Wikipedia defines cellulite as,”the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue that manifests topographically as skin dimpling and nodularity, often on the pelvic region (specifically the buttocks), lower limbs, and abdomen.”

Women define it as dreadful. For once, hope exists for a solution.

It’s Luck of the Draw

While it can be a pain in the butt, or legs, or hips …. cellulite isn’t a medical malady. And while cellulite is more common among women than men, guys can suffer from it as well. If other women in your family have cellulite, there’s a good chance you will, too. Other factors that influence how much cellulite you have and how visible it is include: poor diet or fad dieting, slow metabolism, lack of exercise, hormone changes, dehydration, color and thickness of your skin and total body fat level. And if you have light skin, cellulite tends to stand out more.

Is There Anything That Can Help?

Promises. Promises. Promises. There are many products and treatments that promise to get rid of cellulite on thighs and buttocks, but there is little evidence that shows that many of them work well or for long.”I know it personally as do most of my friends,” says Dr. Laurie Casas of Chicago, a board certified plastic surgeon. “The fact is 87 percent of women after puberty have cellulite. It’s multi-factorial, meaning there are many, many, many reasons it happens.”casas - cellfina.00_01_01_10.Still002

Something New: Cellfina

The Cellfina™ System is the only FDA-cleared, minimally-invasive procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least two years—the longest FDA-cleared duration for a cellulite treatment. Performed in a doctor’s office by a qualified physician, Cellfina treats the primary structural cause of cellulite for a smooth and healthy look that gives patients the confidence to wear a bathing suit and higher hemlines.

“There’s no single treatment to prevent cellulite and there’s no single treatment that can be used to treat it,” Casas says. “That being said, the issue is, does Cellfina help deal with cellulite? It works very well with the dimples of the buttocks and the dimples of the thighs.”

“For isolated dimples on the buttock and thighs, it’s amazing,” Casas continued. “Patients come in, they drive themselves, they stand and get marked. We lay them down and we go around and isolate each cluster of dimples with this really cool system that allows you to isolate the clusters of dimples and helps you deliver the anesthesia in a very precise way. There’s a little discomfort during the procedure, but the patients are awake, they’re talking, they’re lying down and listening to music. And then we go back to each area and treat the areas that are numb. And we treat them on two different levels. At 6 millimeters and 10 millimeters and Cellfina treats each dimple by releasing each single septum that pulls the skin down, giving that cellulite appearance.”

While Cellfina is not a magic bullet able to rid you completely of cellulite, it’s showing immense promise in the fight against. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to see if the device could be exactly what your unique issues require.
