More about Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation was originally described in the 1800s. Today it is the single most popular cosmetic surgery procedure delivered by plastic surgeons. There are many important aspects about breast augmentation that patients should know.
There are many choices for patients interested in breast augmentation. The single most important decision that a potential breast augmentation patient will make is choosing their surgeon. The first important point is to pick a surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of plastic surgery; however, patients need to do more in-depth homework and select a breast augmentation surgeon who has proven expertise in that procedure. Surgeons who have published papers on breast augmentation and have been invited nationally and internationally to speak on the topic are good indications of expertise in the field of breast augmentation. Additionally, speaking to other patients who have had the procedure by the surgeon to learn about the experience other patients have had with the procedure can be helpful. Surgeon’s published re-operation rates and a recovery rates are excellent objective indicators of the quality of the procedure delivered by that particular surgeon.
