Penile enhancements are in fairly high demand, though it is a tricky procedure only performed by six doctors in America. The surgery does nothing special for the organ’s function, but it can offer up to two inches of additional length.
America may be suffering a recession right now, but some doctors claim that at least one cosmetic trend shows no signs of wilting.
Philadelphia plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Solomon recently told NBC affiliate WFIE that penile enhancement for men is more or less the equivalent to breast augmentation for women. It’s a procedure that makes the patient feel more secure about himself, and, like breast augmentation, it’s fairly high in demand.
Solomon said he performs at least one penile enhancement procedure per week. He reportedly is one of only six doctors in America who actually offer this service, which may be because of how tricky it is.
The enhancement he offers isn’t simply a matter of increasing girth through fat injections, although he does that too. Solomon uses a procedure to lengthen the organ by using what’s already there. As much as one half of the human penis is actually inside the body at all times – mounted underneath the pubic bone with ligaments. During surgery, the surgeon releases those ligaments, which creates more natural length, up to two extra inches.
Dr. Solomon said the procedure is risky since it can cause nerve damage. He also said that just like breast augmentation, penile enhancement does nothing special for the organ’s function. It only offers a larger appearance. For most men, however, that’s probably enough.
