Academy Award winner, Susan Sarandon, still stuns the world with age defying beauty.  The 67 year-old actress has proudly admitted to using liposuction on her face to keep a more youthful appearance.  “I’ve had some lipo under my chin and under my eyes,” says Sarandon.

Liposuction is more commonly known for removing fat deposits on the body, however newer techniques for the procedure continue to benefit all areas, including the face.  For Susan Sarandon, her cosmetic goal required removal of fat from her face, followed by restoration.

Work with the Fat you Have

Often times patients must have this procedure in reverse and actually need to add fat to their face in order to create a young lookDr. James D. Namnoum, a board certified plastic surgeon from Atlanta, explains “By utilizing a patient’s own fat, the volume lost in the face is restored with what is missing: fat.  Cells from your fat work to improve skin tone that has also began to succumb to age.”  After the fat is injected in the face, the doctor has the ability to design operations that are finally restorative.

Avoid the Windblown Look!

It is important to steer clear of procedures that result in a “windblown” face that some celebrities mistakenly undergo end up with. “We’re going to make you look healthy,” says Dr. Namnoum.  “We’re going to give you the appearance of wellness.  You’re not going to look pulled and tightened, you’re going to look well.”  Whether you are removing or adding fat to the face, this technique has proven to be a critical aspect in terms of correcting facial aging.

Make sure that you opt for a lipo treatment that is ideal for you. With the help of an experienced and board certified  plastic surgeon, you will be able to undergo the procedure that is best suited for your cosmetic goals.
